Trapped Vision (Painted)
Trapped Vision explores the tension between awareness and confinement — the moment where seeing clearly becomes a form of punishment rather than freedom. A single, oversized eye dominates the composition, bound by chains and framed by exposed teeth, suggesting perception trapped behind fear, control, or self-inflicted restraint. The blue iris pulls focus immediately, forcing confrontation with the act of seeing when escape is no longer an option.
This artwork is created using traditional wood burning and pyrography, combined with selective hand-applied paint accents. Every composition is redrawn freehand for the burn — never traced, never laser-cut, never mechanically transferred. Even with recurring themes, no two pieces are ever the same. Variations in burn depth, line texture, and paint application ensure each finished work exists as a singular physical original.
Burned into solid basswood using a handheld pyrography tool, this piece required extensive, uninterrupted hours of focused labor. The natural grain of the wood actively shapes the final result, interacting with both the burned lines and painted elements in ways that cannot be replicated or controlled. The paint is applied sparingly to heighten emotional impact without overpowering the wood burning itself. This is not a print, not a reproduction, and not digitally assisted — it is permanent wood burning art etched directly into the surface.
Offered in a 12” × 18” format with framing options available in Black, White, or Brown, Trapped Vision carries a confrontational visual presence suited for private collections, studios, offices, or gallery environments. This piece isn’t meant to be glanced at — it’s meant to be faced.
No machines.
No shortcuts.
No replicas.
